Established under the royal command of Rattanakosin's King Rama Iwith original name Wat Mahasuthavas, the temple-later renamed by King Rama III Wat Suthat Thepwararam-is one of the six significant monasteries of Thailand and recognized as best planned structure. Enshrined in the vihara is the beautiful Buddha image in the Attitude of the subduing Mara Phra Sri Sakaya Muni.
Open daily for the temple visit between 08.30-21.00 hours and between 09.00-16.00 hours for the Ubosot.
